History

US Aluminum Castings was founded in Seattle, Washington in 1909 as part of the Morel Foundry family.  For the next 8 decades, USAC supplied quality castings to the growing US commercial, aerospace and industrial sectors.  While growing in capabilities and product demand, the need for additional manufacturing space became increasingly apparent.  In 1994, 85 years after opening its doors, US Aluminum Castings relocated to Entiat, Washington, along the banks of the Columbia River.  This new location expanded our foundry to 100,000 sq ft and allows USAC to offer its customers a myriad of casting processes, accredited value-added services, and the use of environmentally friendly, renewable hydroelectric power.

Job Summary:

Responsible for the collection, maintenance and distribution of all documents necessary to define product configuration and control manufacturing processes that insure conformance to customer requirements. Maintains a comprehensive NIST 800-171/CMMC compliant filing system and computer database for all documents to be retained in the latest revision of appropriate documentation in a timely manner.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage documentation to meet NIST 800-171 and Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) requirements;
  • Collect and maintain files of the latest revision level documentation necessary to define product configuration and control manufacturing processes within an AS9100 certified management system;
  • Process and implement change request to controlled documents;
  • Utilize USC’s computer system to maintain all filed documentation that ensures fast retrieval of documents;
  • Create and collate certifications of compliance for product;
  • Prepare purchase orders for outside services;
  • Review, print and timely distributes the latest revision level documentation to all appropriate users and ensure removal of obsolete documentation from distribution;
  • Responsible for digital submission of documents via various customer/suppliers web interfaces;
  • Correspondence/handling customer/supplier issues including distribution and re-submittal of revisions;

 Job Summary:

 A Foundry Tooling Engineer is responsible for the costing, design, creating, inspecting and repairing of iron, wood or urethane tooling used in the sand molding and permanent molding of castings.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Utilize customer drawings and models to design tooling for use in the foundry to mold castings;
  • Estimate the costs associated with the fabrication of tooling;
  • Work with customer engineers to facilitate the design of castings and tooling that fit with USAC’s processes;
  • Work with internal and external pattern shops to estimate, design and fabricate tooling;
  • Utilize materials such as iron, wood, resin and fiber glass to perform and/or oversee the build and repair of foundry patterns, core boxes and other tooling;
  • Set-up and operate machine tools (e.g., mills, lathes, etc.) to machine patterns, core boxes and other tooling;
  • Paint or lacquer patterns;
  • Verify conformance of patterns to requirements using measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gages, etc.);
  • Ensure tooling is identified per requirements;
  • Maintain accurate records of tooling repair and inspections;
  • Flexible to assist in areas of the foundry including molding prep, assembly, sand testing, machining, etc.;

The CNC Programmer is responsible for the programming of CNC machines, machine tool design and machining estimating in support of the production of finished aluminum alloy castings.

  • Develop CNC programs using Surfcam for horizontal & vertical mills used on engineering drawings & models;
  • Partner with Sales and Operations in the design and development of foundry, inspection and machine tooling;
  • Partner with Sales and Operations in the estimating and quoting of product and tooling;
  • Partner with the Operations Manager and Machine Shop Manager to establish Machine Shop programming and tooling priorities and plans;
  • Confer with Machine Shop Manager and personnel in order to check and ensure that new programs, machinery and tooling will function properly, and that output will meet specifications;
  • Configure tools & ensure efficient production;
  • Analyze drawings, blueprints & design data in order to calculate correct part dimension for machines, tool selection, machine speeds & feed rates;
  • Assist Quality Assurance and Manufacturing Engineering personnel in testing, troubleshooting and modifying processes to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of products;
  • Advise managers and supervisors of production issues and offer suggestions for changes in working conditions, process design, test, production procedures, and the use of equipment;

Powder Coat Technicians operate and maintain the powder coat system equipment in order to apply powder coating to aluminum alloy castings. This position also prepares, finishes, assembles and packages powder coating aluminum alloy castings.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Apply powder coat to castings to achieve painted finish to customer specifications;
  • Maintain spray guns and powder coat equipment;
  • Perform chemical testing of pre-wash chemicals to ensure acceptable processing levels;
  • Prepare castings for powder coating by racking parts to procedures;
  • Prepare castings for shipment by assembling and packaging to procedures;
  • Adhere to IATF 16949 compliant procedures and processes;
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations;
  • Maintain 5S housekeeping standards within Powder Coat area;

Job Summary:

Heat Treat Operators operate and tend solution furnaces, water quench tanks and precipitation age ovens to heat treat aluminum alloy castings.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Load product into and unload product from ovens and furnaces;
  • Monitor equipment to ensure that proper heat treat cycles and temperatures are maintained;
  • Quenching product in water using mechanical equipment to achieve proper cooling parameters;
  • Straighten product using hammers and jigging tools to ensure product meets dimensional requirements;
  • Perform Brinell hardness testing of product and test samples;
  • Recording process information and test results into a computer system;
  • Sandblast castings using a sand blast cabinet to meet product surface finish requirements;
  • Adhere to Nadcap/AS9100/IATF 16949 compliant procedures and processes;
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations;
  • Maintain 5S housekeeping standards within Heat Treat area;
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements following manufacturer’s instructions, by troubleshooting malfunctions and by calling for repairs, and
